ABSTRACT:
An optical recording and reproducing medium has grooves formed thereon along recording tracks, this optical recording and reproducing medium being recorded and/or reproduced with irradiation of light having a predetermined wavelength λ. Since the grooves are composed of a first groove2and a second groove3shallower than the first groove2and the second groove3is disposed adjacent to both sides of the first groove2, a recorded signal can be suppressed from crossing the tracks and a sufficiently large amplitude amount of a push-pull signal can be obtained. Thus, an optical recording and reproducing medium can produce a stable tracking signal and hence a recording density can be increased.
