ABSTRACT:
An optical filter comprising a birefringent material which is interposed between a taking lens and an image pickup device for removing a component corresponding to a frequency multiplexing in a spacial frequency manner from a high frequency component contained in an image of an object. In the optical filter, the angle formed between its optical axis and an incident plane is smaller than an angle of 45.degree., preferably, approximately 35.degree..
