An optical fiber array10includes: a substrate30with housing grooves34for housing optical fibers24formed therein; a cover plate12for covering the optical fibers24that are housed in the housing grooves34; and an adhesive layer16for joining the substrate30with the optical fibers24being housed in the housing grooves34and the coverplate12. In the substrate30, there are formed adhesive grooves36for introduction of the adhesive layer16between the housing grooves34for housing the optical fibers24and the end portions of the substrate30.
