High efficiency recording is carried for recording recording data generated by a second recording system signal processing circuit11to a recording disc corresponding to an existing first standard, and in this case the recording data generated by the second recording system signal processing circuit11is selectively recorded to the first recording disc based on one of a first or a second standard.
