ABSTRACT:
An optical system is described, for example a radiation source unit (10) supplying a collimated radiation beam (RB), comprising a tubular holder (30) a radiation source (33) arranged in the holder and an optical system having a collimator lens (37). The displacement of the focus of the optical system caused by the variation in length of the holder occurring at a varying temperature can be compensated by a suitable choice of notably the geometry (R.sub.1, D.sub.1) and the refractive index (n.sub.1) of the collimator lens.
