ABSTRACT:
Herein disclosed is an optical connector structure for optically connecting an optical object and an optical fiber cord made of synthetic resin. The optical connector structure comprises a plug member coupleable with a receptacle member. A ferrule member is retained by the plug member to hold the optical fiber cord. The ferrule member has a front end face engageable with the front end face of the optical object retained by the receptacle member. The front end portion of the optical fiber cord is retained by the front end portion of the ferrule member in engagement with the engaging bore of the ferrule member with the front end face of the optical fiber cord being rearwardly retracted from the front end face of the ferrule member. The front end face of the optical fiber cord can be protected from being damaged and adhered by foreign objects before the plug member is coupled with the receptacle member to complete optical connection between the optical fiber cord and the optical object.
