ABSTRACT:
Compounds of the invention having general formula ##STR1## are useful reagents for protecting amine, guanidine, amidine or hydroxyl groups during organic synthesis. In particular, compounds are useful during oligonucleotide synthesis to protect nucleobase amines as well as tethered amines used for attaching functional moieties to oligonucleotides.
