ABSTRACT:
An olefin polymerization catalyst is prepared by depositing a poly (di-.mu.-dihydrocarbylphosphinatohydroxyaquochromium (III)) compound or the corresponding anhydrous compound upon an inorganic support material and calcining the impregnated support material in a non-reducing atmosphere above 300.degree. C. up to the decomposition temperature of the support material to provide an activated catalyst. The catalyst exhibits high productivity and produces polymers having high melt indices.
