ABSTRACT:
A process for ethylating detergent-range olefins which comprises contacting a detergent-range olefin with ethylene in the presence of a catalyst prepared by impregnating a porous alumina support with a metal compound decomposable to an oxide upon calcination wherein said metal is selected from the group consisting of potassium, rubidium, cesium and mixtures thereof, and subsequently calcining the resulting material at a temperature of from about 450.degree. C. to about 750.degree. C.
