ABSTRACT:
The present invention is directed to a lubricating oil composition exhibiting improved viscosity index comprising lubricating oil and a viscosity improving effective amount of ethylene alpha-olefin polymer comprising monomer units derived from ethylene and at least one alpha-olefin represented by the formula H.sup.2 C=CHR.sup.1 wherein R.sup.1 is an alkyl group of from 1 to 18 carbon atoms, and wherein said polymer has a number average molecular weight of from above 20,000 to about 500,000, and an average of at least about 30% of the polymer chains contain terminal ethylidene unsaturation.
