ABSTRACT:
Demetallized hydrocarbon feedstock is obtained from heavy oils by first solvent extracting the heavy oils and then demetallizing the extract in a magneto-filtration step. In another embodiment, diamagnetic nickel complexes in hydrocarbon oils are first converted to a paramagnetic product and the oil stream thereafter is passed through a magneto-filtration operation.
