ABSTRACT:
An objective lens driving apparatus includes a lens holder1that holds an objective lens2, and a stationary base9that supports the lens holder1by a support shaft3parallel to an optical axis of the objective lens2. A stationary yoke11and the magnet8are mounted to the stationary base9. A focusing coil4and the tracking coils5aand5bare mounted to the lens holder1. The interaction between the current in the focusing coil4and the magnetic field caused by the magnet8generates an electromagnetic force that moves the lens holder1along the support shaft3. The interaction between the current in the tracking coils5aand5band the magnetic field caused by the magnet8generates an electromagnetic force that rotates the lens holder1about the support shaft3.
