ABSTRACT:
A nuclear imaging probe1for measuring the density of a subsurface formation GF in a limited zone surrounding a well-bore hole WBH. The probe comprises: a pad2having a face arranged so as to be positioned in contact with a well-bore wall WBW, at least one radioactive source4arranged within the pad for transmitting incident photons PI towards the well-bore wall, and at least one sensor5spaced away from the radioactive source and isolated from the radioactive source by a shield6arranged into the pad for receiving photons scattered PS by the limited zone.
