ABSTRACT:
A process for manufacturing a novel resin which comprises reacting, in the presence of a Friedel-Crafts catalyst, an aliphatic monovalent alcohol with a Diels-Alder addition product, the product being at least one compound having the formula ##SPC1##
Wherein each of R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 is a hydrogen atom or methyl group, each of R.sup.6, R.sup.7, R.sup.8 and R.sup.9 is a hydrogen atom or alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, X is --COOH, --COOR.sup.a, --CN or CONH.sub.2, R.sup.a being an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, A is --CH.sub.2 -- or --CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 --, and m is an integer of 1 or 2.
