A nonaqueous cell employing an anode such as lithium, a liquid organic electrolyte and a cathode comprising manganese dioxide and a poly-carbon fluoride such as (C.sub.2 F).sub.n or (CF.sub.x).sub.n in which x is greater than 0 up to about 1.1.
