ABSTRACT:
Methods for treating or reducing the risk of transmission ofchlamydiato a recipient by topically applying a metalloprotease inhibitor to a site on the recipient which is likely to be exposed toChlamydia. Topical compositions containing metalloprotease inhibitors are also disclosed for treating or reducing the risk of transmission ofChlamydia, as well as barrier contraceptive devices coated therewith.
