ABSTRACT:
The invention relates to non-aqueous functional fluids which contain at least one compound of formula I ##STR1## wherein X is --O--, --S--, --SO--, --SO.sub.2 --, --C(0)--O-- or --N(R.sup.3)--, in which R.sup.3 is hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl, R.sup.1 is unsubstituted C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl or C.sub.2 -C.sub.5 alkyl substituted by one to three hydroxyl groups, R.sup.2 is hydrogen, unsubstituted C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl or C.sub.2 -C.sub.5 alkyl substituted by one to three hydroxyl groups, with the proviso that at least one of the residues R.sup.1 or R.sup.2 is hydroxy-substituted, and wherein R is C.sub.2 -C.sub.20 -alkyl, a residue --CH.sub.2 --CH(OH)--CH.sub.2 --NR.sup.1 R.sup.2, in which R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 have their previous significance, or R is C.sub.2 -C.sub.18 alkenyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.3 alkynyl or C.sub.5 -C.sub.12 cycloalkyl, with the proviso that, when X is --O-- or --C(0)--O--, R is branched C.sub.4 -C.sub.20 alkyl, especially a tertiary alkyl group.
The compounds of formula I are very suitable as corrosion inhibitors for non-aqueous functional fluids.
