ABSTRACT:
A negative type silver halide photographic material is disclosed. The material comprises a support having provided thereon at least one silver halide emulsion layer containing silver halide grains sensitized with gold and sulfur sensitizers, the emulsion layer or at least one other hydrophilic colloid layer containing at least one high contrast-imparting hydrazine derivative and at least one compound represented by the following general formula (I): ##STR1## wherein Z represents N or C--X wherein X represents a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl or aryl group, Y represents a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl or aryl group, and M represents a hydrogen atom, a metallic atom, or ammonium which may be substituted.
