Novel (naphthyloxy)benzoic
aphthoic acid compounds, polymerizable into thermotropic polymers have the formulae: ##STR1## in which R is hydrogen, a straight or branched chain aliphatic or cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon radical having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms or a radical ##STR2## wherein R' is a methyl or ethyl radical, or salt thereof.
