ABSTRACT:
A nail-removing hammer has at least one sidewardly opening claw located just behind the poll portion of the hammer head. The claw is formed from a transverse bore in the side of the head, and a pair of jaws at the top of the head which are situated over the bore. The jaws are preferably defined by V-shaped flanges extending over a portion of the bore. Similar sidewardly opening claws may optionally be mounted in the throat.
