ABSTRACT:
A tertiary N-vinylamide is polymerized, optionally together with further monomers, in the presence of an aliphatic hydrocarbon, at a temperature of from 0.degree. to 150.degree. C., using two types of initiator one of which is insoluble and the other soluble in the hydrocarbon used. The pulverulent or granular polymer obtained has a diminished content of residual monomer. It is suitable as protective colloid or dispersing agent for emulsion or suspension polymerizations.
