An N-heteroaryl-4-(haloalkyl)nicotinamide derivative represented by formula (I):[wherein R represents a C1–C6haloalkyl group; R1represents a hydrogen atom, a C1–C6alkyl group which may be substituted a C2–C6alkenyl group or an acyl group; X represents a group represented by formula C—R2, or a nitrogen atom; R2and R3each independently represent a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a C1–C6alkyl group which may be substituted, a C3–C7cycloalkyl group, a C2–C6alkenyl group, a C3–C7cycloalkenyl group, a formyl group, a group represented by formula CH═NOR4, a cyano group, a phenyl group which may be substituted, a heterocyclic group which may be substituted, a C1–C6alkoxy group which may be substituted, a C1–C6alkylthio group or a phenoxy group]; or a salt thereof, a pesticide containing it as an active component, a method for producing it and intermediates thereof.
