ABSTRACT:
An N'-[4-(substituted phenethyloxy)phenyl]-N-methyl-N-methoxyurea of the formula: ##STR1## wherein X.sub.1 is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group and X.sub.2 is a C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 alkyl or a C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 alkoxy group, which shows a pronounced herbicidal activity against a wide variety of weeds in the cultivation of soybean, peanut, cotton, corn, wheat or rice plants without any material toxicity to mammals, fishes and said crop plants.
