ABSTRACT:
A multi-purpose cane includes a shaft portion that can be adjusted to different lengths, and an electrical circuit that is used to activate a light generating element and/or an alarm or communicating unit. The electrical circuit includes a manual switch mounted on a handle portion of the cane. A rechargeable battery unit is located in the handle portion, and a second light unit can be mounted on a tip of the cane so the can be used to direct light longitudinally of the shaft portion. The other light generating unit can be moved to direct light at various angles with respect to the shaft portion.
