ABSTRACT:
Rectangular clay tiles for a liquid cooling tower are provided with openings to increase the heat and mass transfer which is provided by the tiles. Each rectangular tile includes four side walls and inner partitions or webs which provide a plurality of vertically extending open cells. Each side wall and each partition is provided with at least one horizontal opening for each cell formed by that side wall or partition, and liquid and air can flow into or out of the cells through the openings.
