ABSTRACT:
The invention is directed to a muffler for insertion into a pipe such as the intake pipe of an internal combustion engine. The muffler includes a base body defining a longitudinal axis and having first and second axial end faces. The base body has a plurality of pass-through openings formed therein which extend between the first and second end faces of the base body in the direction of the longitudinal axis. The base body is delimited by a radially outer-lying surface and has a support section in the region of the outer-lying surface. The support section extends axially beyond the first end face and is the maximum projection extending beyond the first end face of the base body.
