ABSTRACT:
A motor drive unit1comprises an input shaft10, a countershaft20, a couple of helical gears, a housing5and a seventh bearing57. The input shaft10is connected with the rotor shaft60of an electrical motor M for driving a vehicle, and the countershaft20is disposed in parallel with the input shaft10, for rotational connection leading to drive wheels of the vehicle. The helical gears comprise a first gear12and a second gear22, which enable power transmission from the input shaft10to the countershaft20, and the housing5covers and retains the electrical motor M. The seventh bearing57is mounted in the housing5, and it retains rotatably the end of the rotor shaft60that is located opposite to the coupled portion14of the rotor shaft60and the input shaft10. At the coupled portion14, a wave spring82is sandwiched between the rotor shaft60and the input shaft10, so that the wave spring82pushes the rotor shaft60and the input shaft10axially away from each other, with the rotor shaft60pushing the housing5axially via the seventh bearing57. Furthermore, the drive unit is arranged such that while the electrical motor M is in operation, an axial thrust acting on the input shaft10from the first gear12pushes the input shaft10to the rotor shaft60. In this arrangement, the pushing force by which the rotor shaft60pushes the housing5is variable in correspondence to the operational condition of the electrical motor M.
