ABSTRACT:
Porous monolithic ceramic support substrates, well suited for consolidating inorganic filtration membranes thereto, e.g., micro/ultrafiltration membranes, to provide composite inorganic micro/ultrafiltration devices, have a mean equivalent pore diameter Ds ranging from 1 to 20 .mu.m and a pore volume greater than 30%, and comprise ceramic alumina particulates at least partially coated with TiO.sub.2 particles, wherein the percentage by weight of TiO.sub.2, with respect to the total weight of Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 plus TiO.sub.2, ranges from 1% to 75%.
