ABSTRACT:
The monolithic ceramic electronic component includes a first external electrode5, a second external electrode6, and a ceramic sintered compact4including internal electrodes2and3, the first and second external electrodes5and6being disposed on both end faces4aand4bof the ceramic sintered compact4.The first and second external electrodes5and6have a multilayer structure in which sintered electrode layers5aand6a, intermediate electroplated layers5band6b, and plated layers5cand6care arranged in that order. Exposed surface regions7aof insulating oxides7are exposed from the outer faces of the sintered electrode layers5aand6a, the oxides7being derived from a glass frit contained in the sintered electrode layers. Metals8are deposited on the exposed surface regions7aand the intermediate electroplated layers5band6bare then formed by electroplating.
