ABSTRACT:
A modified olefin resin which can be dissolved in water by neutralization with an alkali and has an acid value of at least 30, produced by reacting a copolymer obtained from an .alpha.-olefin having at least 6 carbon atoms and maleic anhydride with at least one modifier having at least one functional group selected from the class consisting of hydroxyl, amino, aziridinyl and mercapto groups.
