ABSTRACT:
The present invention relates to a novel major mite antigen, which according to the invention has been isolated and sequenced for the first time. More specifically, said antigen is a protein originating from the miteSarcoptes scabiei. Thus, the invention relates to said antigen as well as to the encoding nucleic acid as defined in the claims. Further, the invention also relates to advantageous uses of the novel protein and/or functional fragments thereof, e.g. in immunological testing, such as in ELISA methods, as well as in the preparation of vaccines.
