ABSTRACT:
A package assembly10for the storage and distribution of a plurality of stacked mints12is provided. The package assembly10includes a cylindrical outer shell14including a shell sidewall16, a shell bottom surface18, and a shell open top20. The shell sidewall16includes a sidewall inner surface22and a sidewall outer surface24. A vertical control slot28is formed in the shell sidewall16, the vertical control slot28having a control slot height40and a control slot width42. At least one retention protrusion78is formed onto a slot side edge34such that the control slot width42is reduced in the location of the at least one retention protrusion78. A cylindrical inner insert26including an insert sidewall44, an insert top surface46, and an insert open bottom48, is formed to house the plurality of stacked mints12. The cylindrical inner insert26is positioned within the cylindrical outer shell14such that the insert open bottom48faces the shell bottom surface18. A control pad52is formed onto and protrudes outwards from the insert sidewall44. The control pad52is positioned within the vertical control slot28and is movable such that the cylindrical inner insert26can be moved between a closed position68and an open position70. The control pad52has a control pad width54such that said control pad52engages the at least one retention protrusion78when in the closed position68and such that the cylindrical inner insert26is resisted from moving into the open position70. A dispensing chamber72is formed in the insert sidewall44adjoining the insert top surface46. The dispensing chamber72is covered by the shell sidewall16when the cylindrical inner insert26is in the closed position68. The dispensing chamber72is positioned outside the cylindrical outer shell14when the cylindrical inner insert26is in the open position70. The dispensing chamber72has a dispensing chamber height74sufficient to allow one of the plurality of stacked mints12to be removed from the cylindrical inner insert26.
