ABSTRACT:
Methylene coupled aromatic compounds are prepared by contacting an aromatic reactant having a reactive hydrogen with chloromethyl methyl carbonate at a temperature from about 25.degree. C. to about 250.degree. C. in the presence of a catalytic amount of a Lewis acid.
