ABSTRACT:
The present invention provides methods for producing linear thiopeptides using an amino acid ortho amino thioanilide compound of formula (III) ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 branched or unbranched alkyl;
