ABSTRACT:
Method, apparatus and computer program products for selecting a routing path in a network from a first endpoint to a second endpoint wherein at least one hop in the routing path from the first endpoint to the second endpoint includes a multi-link transmission group which includes a plurality of transmission paths from a first intermediate node to a second intermediate node. In the selection process, links in the multi-link transmission group are selected by aggregating the characteristics of the plurality of transmission paths in the multi-link transmission group to provide an aggregate transmission group characteristic such that the multi-link transmission group appears as a single link in the routing path. The path from the first endpoint to the second endpoint may then be selected using the aggregate transmission group characteristic. The present invention may be particularly well suited for use in APPN or HPR networks.
