ABSTRACT:
The present application relates to the treatment of hyperuricemias, including the prevention and treatment of gout, using the compound Itanoxone or a pharmaceutically-acceptable salt thereof. The compound Itanoxone has the chemical name 2'-chloro-4,4-biphenyl-4-oxo-2-methylene-butyric acid, and may alternatively be named 2-methylene 4-oxo 4-(4'-ortho-chlorophenylphenyl)-butyric acid. The formula for the compound is as follows: ##STR1##
