ABSTRACT:
The present invention relates to a method of using antibiotic gramicidin for the therapy and prevention of herpes virus infections. Gramicidin is also useful in suppressing sperm motility without affecting its viability and may thus be used as an active ingredient of topical contraceptive formulations either alone or in combination with chelating agents such as EDTA or salts thereof.
