ABSTRACT:
A steam stripping fraction of sesame seed oil with increased concentration of sesamin and episesamin is used in a molecular distillation process to obtain a fraction containing more than 70 weight % of sesamin and episesamin. The steam stripping fraction is preferably obtained by a steam stripping process wherein the temperature (t.degree. C.) of the sesame seed oil and the pressure (P mmHg) for the process are such that {(4.24.times.10.sup.3)/(9.41-log P)}-273 .ltoreq.t.ltoreq.280 and 0.5.ltoreq.P.ltoreq.20.
