A method of reactivating a mercaptan oxidation catalytic composite of an adsorptive support and a metal chelate comprising contacting the composite with an aqueous solution of a quaternary ammonium compound and a linear ionic compound at a temperature of from about 55.degree. C. to about 175.degree. C.
