ABSTRACT:
A method of producing thiophene, residing in interacting diacetylene with sodium sulphide in a mixture of an aprotic polar solvent with water, in a weight ratio 50-90:50-10, respectively, or in water at a temperature of 20.degree.-100.degree. C. The method ensures quantitative yield of thiophene with a high degree of purity (more than 99.0% by gas-liquid chromatography). The method is technologically simple and does not require complicated equipment.
