ABSTRACT:
The smoking composition referring to the reconstituted tobacco or tobacco substitute and composing of natural tobacco material and/or organic or inorganic material(s), which are combustible as raw materials, and of CMC-Na as binder, is heated at 110.degree.-240.degree. C., preferably at 150.degree.-200.degree. C., desirably for 150-5 minutes, so as to reduce the moisture content thereof to 1% and below. The smoking composition thus heating-processed exhibits a markedly superior water-resistance to the smoking composition not heating-processed, while the former exhibits equal physical properties except water-resistance and organoleptic properties to the latter.
