ABSTRACT:
Provided is a method of preparing a light-weight and inexpensive void type plastic pigment having enhanced hiding power and whiteness relative to inorganic pigments such as titanium oxide or organic pigments such as conventional styrene polymeric plastic pigments by regulating the content of each monomer in the sheath polymerization after core polymerization and controlling the glass transition temperature of the first sheath which is the shell obtained by initial polymerization less than that of the core by 70 to 120.degree. C., thus increasing the difference of refractive index between the polymeric matrices.
