ABSTRACT:
An improved process for the hydrochlorination of vinyltrichlorosilane to prepare .beta.-chloroethyltrichlorosilane, which hydrochlorination is carried out by reacting the vinyltrichlorosilane with HCl in the presence of a Lewis catalyst, the improvement lying in carrying out the reaction at a temperature between 30.degree. and 65.degree. C, preferably at normal pressure.
