ABSTRACT:
A process of preparing a 5-amino-3-substituted pyrazole of formula (I) ##STR1## wherein R is an optionally substituted alkyl group or an optionally substituted aryl group, said process comprising reacting a compound of formula (III) ##STR2## with H.sub.2 NNH.sub.2 to obtain the compound of formula (I). The compound of formula (III) can be obtained by reacting a ketone of the formula R-CO-CH.sub.3 with DMF--acetal (HC(OCH.sub.3).sub.2 N(CH.sub.3).sub.2) followed by subsequent reaction with NH.sub.2 OH.sup..cndot. HCl.
