ABSTRACT:
A method of optimizing the control of the mass transfer zone in distillation columns. Distillation columns are control optimized by controlling the steam feed, reflux, or pressure by determining the deviation from nominal values of characteristic curves of characteristic areas determined by measuring two different theoretical plates in the mass transfer zone of the column.
