ABSTRACT:
A drum formed on its outer peripheral surface with symbols and symbol position ascertaining marks. The symbols which, include characters, numerals, code marks and the like are superposed on the drum indirectly by affixing to the drum body a belt on which the symbols are positioned. For this purpose, the drum body is formed with a circumferentially aligned series of equalled spaced projections and the belt is formed with a longitudinally aligned series of perforations having a spacing equal to those of the projections. The drums can be used with any apparatus requiring symbol indication, e.g. time measuring instruments, gas meters, or calculators.
