ABSTRACT:
A pipe billet is drawn and reduced by stages, each time decreasing the cross-sectional area of its walls by 60-80% and annealing it at 830.degree. .+-. 30.degree. C after each drawing stage. This procedure is continued until the wall thickness of the billet decreases to 0.24 - 0.30 mm; then the billet is again drawn and reduced by stages, each time decreasing the cross-sectional area of the produced pipe by 28 - 50% and annealing the pipe at 750.degree. .+-. 20.degree. C after each drawing stage.
The method of manufacture of seamless pipes according to the invention allows making capillary thin-walled pipes from palladium-based alloys that will withstand a vacuum of 10.sup.-3 - 10.sup.-4 mm Hg and remain vacuum-tight after 1000 hr of operation in hydrogen-containing media.
