ABSTRACT:
A diesel particulate trap and method of making the same wherein ceramic powder supported by a carrier fluid is deposited by normal fluid flow through the porous walls of the inlet channels in a ceramic monolith filter are fired in place so as to define inlet channels of decreasing cross-sectional flow area and increasing wall thickness relative to the distance from the inlet end to the outlet end of the filter.
