ABSTRACT:
A method for making an electrical inductive device for use in hermetic atmospheres which incorporate refrigerants such as halogenated methane compositions, for example refrigerant R-22, monochlorodifluoromethane. The device may be a wound coil device formed of magnet wire, the enamel coating of which has resistance to blistering when exposed to refrigerants under saturated conditions at temperatures up to about 200.degree. or 210.degree. C. and above. The enamel coating composition or wire enamel is formed as the reaction product of 1,2,3,4-butanetetracarboxylic dianhydride, optionally with an aromatic dianhydride, and a diamine such as p,p'-methylenedianiline or p,p'-oxydianiline, in an organic solvent such as N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone.
