ABSTRACT:
The present invention includes a sensing edge for controlling movement of a door by actuation of a device upon force being applied to the sensing edge. The sensing edge includes a base member for being secured to the leading edge of a door and a sheath having a plurality of internal cavities extending therethrough for receiving electrical contacts and wiring. A method of making the sensing edge includes coextrusion of the base member and sheath. During the coextrusion process, electrical contacts are positioned within and bonded to the sheath. Electrical wiring may also be positioned within one or more cavities within the sheath during the coextrusion process.
